Kristy R. Magras

Kristy R. (Anderson) Magras serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Malden Rising Leaders Inc. (MRL)


Before joining MRL, Kristy has dedicated herself to giving back the community that gave her such a strong start. She currently is the District Family Counselor for the Malden Public Schools, where she acts as the liaison for homeless families and homeschool students, as well as Family and Community Engagement Liaison. Kristy recognizes the truth of the old African proverb “It takes a village to raise a child.” and has excelled at showing families and students how to marshal resources to promote future success.


Kristy also worked as an Assistant Buyer for Filene’s Basement. After many years with the company, Kristy realized she wanted to have a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Kristy is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, whose mission is to be a “Service to All Mankind” and has held numerous leadership positions. She is an executive member of the committee to Re-Elect Neal Anderson.


Kristy is happily married to Maurice Magras Jr., Kristy is the mother to daughters Kendra Rene` and Kyla Rose, as well as two “bonus” sons, Maurice III and Miguel.


She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Consumer Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1999. As a committed life-long learner, Kristy enrolled in a Master’s program at Cambridge College where she earned an M.Ed. in School Guidance while raising a young family.


Malden Rising Leaders Inc. (MRL) is a non-profit corporation founded in Malden, Massachusetts in 2017. MRL’s focus is youth leadership and development through scholarship support and mentoring. Its mission is to help the Malden’s young leaders to engage, organize and advance their community’s development, by advocating on behalf of families. MRL provides a yearly scholarship to Malden High School graduating seniors to further their studies in the field of education, entrepreneurship, nonprofit, and public service.
